Revive your website
As time goes, your websites online viewer ship tends to diminish if you don’t apply effort in keeping your site alive. After some research I found 6 steps that are vital for a healthy, active website.1. Plan your upgrade.
Read through this list and prepare yourself. Make a good plan, it will enable you to revamp your with little effort, little time, and with noticeable results. Keep in mind that you will have to ‘revamp’ again. The frequency is determined by the kind of site you have.2. Consider an image upgrade.
Gather opinions from your prospective clients on what needs to be improved about your website. If your site is said to be awful, bring it down and start from scratch. Otherwise I would recommend a light sprucing up. For example you can reduce clutter, clean rough edges, and adding emphasis on what you discover needs it. Remember some people may have gotten used to your site, and drastic changes might shock them, and complicate their experience with your site.3. Consider a function upgrade
Is there anything your clients expect your site to do for them? or there something that the site can do to improve the users experience? This upgrade should be looked at from the users’ point of view. Their needs are normally simple, so don’t go overboard. Adding all sorts of widgets to your site can cause you to loose your client’s attention. Consider changes that make the users reach you easily (e.g. a small feedback form right on your home page), or changes that make your site easier to use. Optimise your site (make it load faster and make it search engine friendly), etc
4. Modify your content plan
Make adjustments to enable you develop better content. If you don’t have a content plan, make one. Nothing makes a site look livelier like new content. Appoint someone to be in charge of your websites content. Even at the rate of one item per month, 3 years down the line and you will have a mini encyclopaedia.5. Social Networks
When your site can stand on its own, you can tactfully mention it in social groups that represent your target audience. Every once in a while, put your website as your facebook status. If you watch the stats on your viewer ship you will note that this actually works. And when done well, you will steadily increase your sites traffic. It also creates the feeling that your site is active, and that you are proud to be associated with it, thus the curious mouses will click to your site, just to check it out.6. Market your site.
Note that this is the last thing you should do, after every ‘i’ on you site is dotted and every ‘t’ crossed. You can pay for ads on google or facebook. They can be very cheap if you set targeted campaigns using the tools provided. You can also put up posters notice boards, take an ad on the yellow pages, e.t.cThese are just the main things you need to do to revive your website and keep it lively. The best advice I can offer is that you should improve, consistently. If you make small changes regularly enough, your audience will grow, along with your website
